Sunday Brunch with “The Maury Island Incident”
Burien Film Festival 2017 ends its weekend of awards and celebration with a special brunch and screening of a local cult classic, The Maury Island Incident, based on actual events. There will be commentary by director Scott Schaefer, writer Steve Edmiston, and actor John Patrick Lowrie. Stories, humor and fun facts abound.
The event will also be a celebration of Washington Senate Resolution 8648, the state’s official acknowledgement of the June 21, 1947 Maury Island Incident just days after its 70th anniversary. Senator Karen Kaiser, the main sponsor of the resolution, and other special guests will be in attendance. There will even be artifacts from the event on display.
